As an integrative counsellor, I offer compassionate support for anxiety, low self-esteem, loss, relationship difficulties, trauma, and the lasting impact of difficult early experiences.
Welcome, I'm Amanda. I understand that people come to therapy for all sorts of different reasons; big transitions, repeating painful patterns, or simply feeling stuck or overwhelmed. Maybe you're experiencing difficulties in relationships, or struggling with unsettling anxiety. Perhaps you've been feeling low and you're just not sure why. My role is to offer a confidential, warm, non-judgmental space where we can explore whatever it is that brings you here and help you to make sense of your challenges.
My approach is relational and collaborative, grounded in person-centered, psychodynamic and attachment theories. This means we pay attention to your inner world, relationships, and past experiences, while keeping sight of what you need right now. Above all, I aim to understand your world at your pace, in a space that feels safe and manageable so you can feel seen, heard and understood.
I can work with adults (18+) from all backgrounds within a range of concerns, though the areas I work most often are anxiety, loss, relationship patterns, attachment and developmental and childhood wounds as well as the impact of abuse.
If you’re unsure whether your experience “fits,” you’re still very welcome to reach out. My training and experience means I can work with a variety of themes, and together we can explore what's most relevant to you.
Our counselling sessions would be 50 minutes long, and can take place either face to face or online. These can be on either a weekly or fortnightly basis, and can be short term or open-ended depending on your needs. Face to face sessions are held in calm and confidential spaces in Moseley or Kings Heath in Birmingham, and remote sessions are available over Zoom. Daytime and evening appointments are available.
I work in private practice and for reputable employee assistance programmes, as well as having volunteered for 4 years within a bereavement support charity. I have consistent supervision, and have also regularly attended my own personal therapy, so I understand that finding a therapist and starting can feel daunting.
Rest assured, you don’t need to have everything figured out right now. If you would like to take a next step, we can set up a brief 15-20 minute phone consultation so we can discuss what you're looking for and whether working together feels right for you. I will explain the process, as well as what confidentiality will look like.
You are of course welcome to contact me if right now you are still unsure, or have some further questions it would be helpful for me to answer
If I’m in session and can’t respond immediately, please leave a message and I’ll get back to you. I aim to respond to enquiries within 24 hours.
