Personal Profile

Hi

I'm Sonja, a counsellor who understands the unique struggles people face when dealing with trauma, stress, anxiety, grief, and the aftermath of narcissistic & domestic abuse. Having worked through my own healing journey, I have a deeper understanding of the pressures we face working through our emotions in times of difficulty and life's challenges. I deeply resonate with the need for a safe, understanding space to work through challenges—especially when it’s hard to open up. I believe that healing doesn’t just mean getting by—it means finding your strength, gaining clarity, and regaining control over your life. My goal is to help you discover new paths forward and achieve lasting, positive change.

My Practice

So, I named my counselling practice Libera Mentis (www.liberamentis.co.uk) because it means "Free Your Mind." I wanted to create a space where people could break free from the pain, fear, and hurt that hold them back—whether that’s from past trauma, toxic relationships, or life’s everyday challenges. My goal is to help you clear the mental clutter and find the peace and clarity you deserve. At Libera Mentis, I offer a counselling and psychotherapy service that’s built around you. My practice is about finding real, practical ways to work through what’s weighing you down. I specialise in helping you work through complex emotions like trauma, grief, anxiety, and the lingering effects of narcissistic & domestic abuse. I combine a mix of grounded techniques and deep empathy to support you in discovering what works best for you, so you can begin to regain control and build lasting change in your life. You don’t have to face your struggles alone. It's about partnership—together, we’ll uncover the tools and mindset you need to move forward with confidence and freedom.

What I can help with

When Mark (name changed for confidentiality) came to me, he was struggling with anxiety, stress, and the aftermath of a toxic relationship where he had experienced physical abuse. He felt overwhelmed by the emotional weight and unsure of how to move forward. Through our work together, we didn’t just talk—we focused on understanding the root of his struggles and finding practical ways to cope. I helped Mark rebuild his confidence and gain control over his life, using a mix of hands-on tools and compassionate support. If you’re dealing with grief, anxiety, trauma, or the lingering effects of a difficult relationship, I can help you break free from the cycle, find clarity, and regain balance in your life.

Clients I work with

I work with 18+ adults, from all walks of life—different backgrounds, cultures, and religions—because, let’s face it, everyone’s got stuff to work through, right? Whether you’re a high-flyer or just figuring things out, if you think we might click, I’m here to support you. My goal is to help you break free from what’s holding you back and give you the support you need to move forward. No judgement, no nonsense—just real, down-to-earth support from someone who’s been there and genuinely wants to help you get where you want to be.

Moving Forward

If you're ready to take the next step, get in touch—let’s see how we can work together to make things feel better. We won't just talk about your struggles – we'll dive into them, uncovering what’s holding you back and finding practical ways to move forward. Together, we’ll explore tools that truly resonate with you, from deep conversations to hands-on exercises and creative approaches, all designed to help you shift your mindset, feel empowered, and make real, lasting change. It's not just therapy; it’s about transforming your experience and finding the freedom you deserve.
