Approaching counselling can often feel daunting and initially you may not know exactly what to expect or how it can help. I aim to offer a safe, confidential space where you can explore difficult emotions or experiences without judgement and with empathy and care. I work on building a trusting therapeutic relationship with emphasis on tailoring the approach we take to your needs.
I am a professionally qualified, integrative counsellor who is a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). My integrative approach means that I use several different models of therapy which can be tailored to what you need. This may involve looking at your past as well as focusing on the present and understanding how the two may relate. I have worked with various agencies for several years and my passion lies in creating a non-judgmental and confidential therapeutic space where you can safely explore and express difficult emotions which might include feeling anxious or depressed or noticing that you are constantly worrying. You may just wish to talk through the complex emotions which arise from life's challenges such as relationship difficulties, professionl challenges, loss, or bereavements. Counselling will offer you the space to explore these issues with an objective professional and enable you to process these difficulties better.
Professional Experience
I have worked as an NHS Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) counsellor, where I supported clients in building confidence and self-esteem to help them understand themselves better, for example through developing stronger boundaries, improving emotional resilience or by identifying behavioral patterns. My expertise extends to working with clients from diverse demographics and I understand that each client has unique needs and goals so I work collaboratively to understand what might be best for you to navigate these challenges.
I have an interest in issues relating to cross-cultural identities and the challenges that this can bring. My experience has included working with many clients who face the difficulties of multi-cultural identities whether that relates to religion, ethnicity or sexuality. I recognise that coming to counselling is often daunting and I hope to make the process easier through my commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives are valued and respected.
I have trained in an integrative modality.
